For university degrees that lead to a non-regulated profession, such as biologist, physicist or linguist, there is no formal recognition procedure as there is for regulated professions or non-academic professional qualifications. Proof of the equivalence of the qualification can be provided via a certificate assessment from the Central Office for Foreign Education or a printout via the anabin database. Further training refers to all measures with which you can improve your professional knowledge, e.g. specialist courses, adaptation qualifications, retraining or job-related language courses. The aim is to increase your chances on the German labor market. Many further education courses require a minimum level of language proficiency (e.g. B2) so that you can follow the lessons and pass examinations. If you receive benefits from the Jobcenter, your integration specialist is usually responsible for making decisions on further training. The Jobcenter can, for example, cover course costs, travel costs or examination fees if the further training significantly improves your chances of permanent employment.
If you are registered as a jobseeker or unemployed with the employment agency, discuss funding options with your placement or counseling specialist. The employment agency can, for example, finance courses via education vouchers and, under certain conditions, pay benefits for living expenses during further training
